This morning we have much to celebrate.
We celebrate the ministry of faithful saints who have served in the tradition of our name-sake St Barnabas in this place for over 140 years. We give thanks for all who have gone before us and commit ourselves afresh to being the people of God in this community – to being light and salt as we proclaim the gospel – the good news of God’s love for all people.
We celebrate with those who have come for Baptism, Confirmation and who desire to Reaffirm Baptism Vows. We thank God for the work he has and is doing in their lives and for His love and drawing them into relationship with Him that they may know the peace and joy that comes from believing and that their lives might bring honour and glory to him.
We celebrate the wonder of God’s love for each one of us and for His world. We are reminded of our own baptism and look forward with anticipation to the opportunities He has in store for us to proclaim His kingdom, in word and deed; His transforming power bringing peace and relief for those who suffer; and His coming again when all things will be made new and we will celebrate in His presence forever.
We come to worship – to celebrate His love for all people and for us and to give our thanks and praise.
To his honour and to His glory.
