A New Year

2016 is likely to bring with it the same kinds of challenges as this past year. 

Newspapers will continue to report the strife and discord so often experienced in our world. News of war and man’s inhumanity to man, the concerns of climate change, natural disasters, violence and dislocation will continue to ring in our ears. 

How will we respond? 

Will be overwhelmed? 

Or will we be one of those who put their hope and trust in God – who seek to see His will and purpose coming to fruition in our world – who commit themselves to being part of the solution rather than part of the problem as we follow his call on our lives and take opportunities to advocate for the dispossessed, the frail and the lonely; to show compassion to those in need; to give of our time and resources generously; to pray for this world and its people’s. 

Will we speak the good news of the gospel to our troubled world confident in the promises of God and looking to him for strength, encouragement and power to live our lives for him and others in this year ahead. 

Will we speak of the wonder of God’s love for us and his world that others may come to know the peace and joy that comes from believing and being followers of Him who in the words of the apostles Paul ‘is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.’
