Today we celebrate one of the most important ‘feast’ in the church calendar - Pentecost! The death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus has provided the ‘crux’ moment of history - the moment when God’s new creation (2 Cor 5:17) takes place.
And now the moment comes, like the creation of old, when God breathes into that new creation “the breath of life” - the Spirit of God!
A real danger, however, is that we can become absorbed with the detail of what happened - “the sound of a mighty wind” - when there was no wind - and how it happened, and miss the point that it did happen and that the results of it are ongoing into our lives today!
May God grant us the freedom and joy of receiving this Spirit anew today and being just as transformed as the disciples of old.
