How often do you just take time to luxuriate in God’s creation - to sit and watch a sunset with it’s spray of colour across the sky; or spend time in the bush and marvel at its intricacy and variety of life and movement; or listen to the birds sing as a new season blossoms into life.
The psalmist declares:
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the works of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out in to all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
I once read somewhere: ‘Who knows what is best for man (and woman) - the hectic pursuits of our incessant lives or the quiet repose of the soul.’ (or something along those lines)
Maybe, of all things, the quiet times of reflection and contemplation, of resting in God and His creation, serve to enrich our lives and draw us closer to Him than anything else.
I pray we might all find such times, and so find refreshment for our souls in Him who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
Financial Appeal 2014 Update
Last week we reported on the special financial appeal as we near the end of our financial year.
Since then a further $1,170 has been received, bringing the total to $6,370.
With a few weeks still remaining, we are optimistic that the full amount of $10,000 can be raised, allowing our church to fulfill its annual obligations for Mission Giving including our contributions to MAF and CMS, supporting the Thompson and Little families.
Thank you again for your continuing support!
