Where your treasure is

Balwyn AnglicanComment

What do I treasure in life?

Are my priorities Kingdom priorities?

These are challenging questions.

How do I decide?

One way I’ve found that helps is to ask where do I spend my time.  How much of my time/my thinking is taken up with Kingdom priorities and how much is directed toward my own comfort and pleasure. How much is focused on me and how much on the needs of others. This helps provide insight into what is most important for me.

Jesus encourages us to ask these questions. He suggests they are important in our discipleship and for our lives, not just in this life, but eternally.

He in fact encourages us to focus in a particular direction

‘Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’
(Matthew 6:19-21)

It’s not always easy.

It can be challenging.

Yet it’s what we are called to as His followers.

Your brother in Christ,
