In the course of my ministry I have the privilege of sitting alongside those who are going through both good and hard times. I suspect many of you do the same with family or friends. What is it that we have to share with them?
More often than not it is our presence, simply being there. On occasion we have the opportunity of sharing our faith - words of comfort and peace for those facing pain and suffering and for those facing death. Whilst at other times there are words of celebration. In all cases we have the opportunity of expressing to God our gratitude and thanks for His provision and love and promise of eternal life. The Apostle Paul in reflecting on such things puts it like this:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What a great message we have to share with others. What a great privilege to speak such words of hope in to the lives of those we love.
