Sunday 31st August

Younger Group with Karina

This week, the younger group explored the benefits of seeking God first. We looked at the story of King Solomon, who wanted to be a good king like his father, King David. When God offered Solomon anything he wanted, Solomon asked for wisdom. God made Solomon the wisest person of all time - giving him the ability to make good judgements over some of the toughest choices.
Solomon pleased God by seeking the most important things first - seeking more of God - so God blessed him with many other gifts. God made Solomon rich, creative (an artist and architect), honored, famous, and gave him peace with his enemies.
When we’re faced with the easy choices - like unlimited cash in a lolly shop - life is a breeze. But when given the option of having ANYTHING we want, we struggle to make a decision. Our selfish, sinful nature fights against God’s will for our lives.
There are many ways to seek God. As you live together this week, think of ways you can seek God first. As you pray, tell God you want more of Him echoing through your life. He can give you anything - so choose wisely, because God wants to give you everything you deserve!

Older Group with Miriam

This week, Miriam's group talked about whether or not being a Christian meant we 'had to like everyone' - a topic of hot debate! We looked at the gospels, and Christ's command to be known by our love, and to love our enemies. We then looked at Romans 12:9-21 and Paul's explanation of love in action.
DISCUSSION POINT: Chat with your kids about what love might look like in action in their lives, and what it means to love their enemies. This is a hard topic but it's so important, and they would benefit from hearing your stories

Blessings for a safe, happy and Spirit filled week. See you Sunday!
